Recording with John Mayer and Chad Franskoviak. John and I are both wrapping up our respective records. He hadn’t heard any of mine. I hadn’t heard his. We each gushed about the other’s. There must be something in the water because there are so many similarities in tone and intent between the two records. While JM was playing guitar on “Our Day” here in LA, India.Arie was singing on the same song in Seattle, so if you felt a shift in the universe, I think I know why.
Had I rushed the making/releasing this record, I would never have had the opportunity to have two of my favorite artists add their magic to my songs. I guess haste really does make waste. Mom was right after all.
I’m about 10 lines away from done.

Dear Little Boy Lost-
As hurt as I am, I think I am much more angry. I’m angry at myself for trusting the words you said. I’m angry at myself for not trusting my friends. I’m angry at you for not only breaking my heart (several times), but for stabbing me in the back.
You were supposed to be my friend, clearly that is something you never were. You are the best actor I’ve ever known. You fooled me, better than I ever thought possible. I hate that you know me so well, to know how to keep me around. I hate even more that I obviously don’t know you as well as I thought.
You have turned into everything you tried to protect me from. You are not the man I fell in loved with. You are no longer the friend I once thought I’d die for. You are lost. I was ready to help search for you, but only you can find you now.
